Leadership Development
We develop leaders through leadership experiences. Troop 79 is a “Scout led Troop” in the model that Sir Baden Powell devised more than a century ago. Anyone who desires will get the opportunity to lead. We offer “in-hut” leadership training to help prepare scouts for any leadership role.
Scouting Principles:
True to the Scout Law and the Scout Oath, we live by the principles and values of the BSA. We practice these with each other and while on camping adventures. A healthy respect and admiration for nature, for society, for America and for our own independence is what we gain from these principles.
High Adventure:
We take adventure trips. Recently, Troop 79 has been on a remote river canoe trip down the mighty Missouri, white water rafting, snow skiing, ice climbing, hikes up 14’ers, sailing on Lake Pueblo and motor boating and water skiing. Each of these experiences is tied to earning Scout merit badges or exposure to new skills.
Rank Advancement:
We ensure our Scouts work hard to earn their awards; instilling a true sense of pride. At the same time, we encourage and closely track the merit badges and rank requirements of all our Scouts. Troop 79 has had great success in helping those who wish to become an Eagle Scout attain that lofty goal.
